For years, Visual Basic has been the most widely used programming language. Visual Basic .NET extends programmer capabilities by introducing structured error handling, support for multiple threads of execution, the ability to quickly create and use Web services, a new model for interacting with databases (ADO.NET), and much more. For years, to perform many of these operations, a programmer had to be using a language such as C++ or Java.
